Course Objectives:
Introducing students to giving first aid to the injured and the sick (stopping bleeding, resuscitation methods,
temporary immobilization and transport of patients, dealing with an aggressive patient and the emergency
procedure). Learning how to perform temporary hemostasis (digital compression, compression bandage,
extremity flexion, Esmarch bandage ), closed-chest cardiac massage and CPR, temporary immobilization by
auxiliary and standard means and transport of patients (the wounded) to a medical institution. Placing
bandages in different body regions. Giving first aid in acute diseases.
Course Content:
Lectures, Practical classes, Other forms of teaching: demonstration exercises (using training manikins).
In this subject, first year students deal with trauma in general, types of wounds, cardiac arrest and cessation
of breathing, bleeding and temporary hemostasis, head, neck, spine and extremity injuries, as well as
emergency diseases that require first aid.
Teaching is performed through lectures, using training manikins and in practical classes in surgical
dispensaries.
