The aim of Pediatrics course is to introduce students to basic principles of pediatric science and practice :
The goal of the practical classes is to train students to recognize symptoms and signs of different diseases in childhood and adolescence and to discuss principles of adequate diagnostics and treatment. Students are expected to be responsible for evaluating pediatric patients in all settings (ambulatory, inpatient and newborn nursery) - not only taking histories and performing physical exams, but challenging themselves to interpret these findings, create differential diagnosis, and formulate diagnostic and therapeutic plans.

PRE - EXAM ACTIVITIES
Regular attendance to classes ( lectures and practicals) carries from 0 to 5 points.
Activities during practicals are estimated from 0 to 5 points .
Colloquium 1 represents demonstration of student's skills in taking history and examination of children. It is estimated as passed or failed.
Colloquium 2 consists of the test with 20 questions (single best answer in multiple choice question test). Maximum number of points is 20.
FINAL PEDIATRICS EXAM consists of 2 parts :
1) Practical part : history taking and examination of a child or adolescent prior to discussing differential diagnosis, diagnostics and treatment options. A student who receives a passing grade obtains 1-10 points. The passing grade in practical part is valid in next exam terms up to the beginning of new academic year.
2) Final test consists of single best answer questions ( questions with 3 or 4 offered answers, out of which one is correct),multiple answer questions, and questions where students are supposed to complete the statement or answer the question. Maximum number of points is 60.
Test questions (Colloquium 2 and final test) are based on recommended textbook :
Marcdante K, Kliegman RM. Nelson Essentials of Pediatrics - With STUDENT CONSULT Online Access. 7th ed. Elsevier Saunders; 2015.
